Beekeeping: A long Eickstedt Tradition

The Eickstedt family has been beekeeping for five generations, and while the sixth generation isn’t quite big enough to help yet, the tradition is alive and well.

It all began in the late 1890s, when Charles Eickstedt emigrated from Prussia and started raising bees after buying a farm in Cedarburg. Over a century later, in 2025, we’re still doing what he started. Today, Ron and Linda Eickstedt care for the bees from spring through fall. In the fall, the honey is harvested, extracted, bottled, and eventually sold.

Beekeeping has become much more challenging in recent decades compared to Charles’s time, but we remain committed to the craft.
